Book creation, website books, and book-fix-it site

book fix

This is a book creation, website book, and book-fix-it site. I hope to give some insight on a few new ways we book authors and webmasters can share our creativity with the world.

Many book authors have high hopes of being published and living a life of success doing what they love.

While it's true that there are many truly wonderful books that deserve to be published, the fact remains that less than 1% of all books will ever be published by a publishing company.

women writers Times have changed for writers so we must change too.

Publishing companies have put the proverbial cart before the horse. Before they even consider publishing your book, they want to know how many copies you have in circulation and how people are reacting to them.

When they ask us those things, we usually say, "Isn't it your job to produce and circulate books?"

That is now the wrong answer. If you can't give them evidence that your book is a good investment, you haven't got a snowball in heck chance of getting published.

We're left with two options.

First, we can mortgage our home and make 20,000 copies of our book through an offset printing company with the hopes of peddling them until they get popular.

Second, we can go to a print-on-demand company and produce our books one at a time at a much higher per book cost, then peddle them until they get popular.

But the story completely changes from there.

This is a very amazing time to be an author. Evolving technology has made it possible to reach our own markets without the help of big publishing companies.

Printing services and equipment has become affordable for everyone. Now we can print our books and put them on websites to promote them.

Not any website will do though, it needs to be a site that gets traffic. Site Build It! shows us how to build websites that get the traffic.

We authors can sell our books via the internet and make excellent profits. That's a new concept and it would be wise for all unpublished writers to take advantage of it.

I actually know this from firsthand experience.

writer I am more of a builder than a writer. I did however write a book about building homes. I wanted to get my book into the hands of those who it would benefit.

I quickly learned that publishing companies wouldn't accommodate me at all.

I then turned to print on demand companies. My book has a lot of color photos so most POD companies couldn't do my book for that reason.

The few that could print my book had to charge me as if all of my pages were color, even though many weren't. My book would have cost me $52 each. Wow, that wasn't going to happen.

So I learned how to make books by myself. I learned a lot from a local university. I made my own binding systems and bought all the printers, laminators, cutters, scorers and gluers.

The first several books were really ugly, but after a bit of practice, they turned out quite nice. I can make my own book for around $10 with full color and glossy pages.

Now, I produce my own books and sell them on my site. I sold my first book just one hour after I put them on my site.

Soon after that I realized that both my book sales and e-book sales had gone up a lot.

Many people won't buy e-books. If a hard copy isn't available, no sale gets made. However there are many people that feel that most e-books are not worth the money.

Hmm, I wonder where they get that idea?

Just the fact that a webmaster or author has made a printed copy of the e-book, shows that he or she feels it is worth getting printed so the perceived value is higher to the customer.

making books

My methods are a step back in technology because I haven't purchased an automated system. I didn't want to spend $150,000 on my own POD system.

I've made my own system for a few thousand dollars. It works very well and I can easily produce up to 100 books a day. I have a good local market, but when demands pass 100 books a day, I'll just buy more printers and make more binders.

Sometimes we need to step backward in technology to find the right solutions.

I can do things much cheaper and almost as fast as the automated systems. I don't charge as much to publish books because I don't have expensive equipment to pay for.

Speedy sneakers made such a dismal performance in the ilovesbivideo contest that he hasn't been able to find work. I give him what work I can so he can feed his family.

Website Books

website books

Ken Evoy of sitesell.com feels that there is a market for website books. I completely agree that there are many websites that have excellent content for off line viewing in a printed format.

The market is too new to tell how successful this will be, but I believe that sites that deal with travel, cooking, construction, medicine, exercise. etc. would have a good market, just to name a few.

As far as I know, Nori Evoy was the first person to think about a book about her site. Great job Nori!

I use spidering software to get all website pages and then arrange them in order. I'm still working out a few kinks with the PDF conversions. Not a big problem.

I have little artistic ability, so making covers isn't my specialty. I'm married to an excellent graphics artist though.

Most webmasters can make their own covers much better than I can.

I only recommend the best sites and software on my website

This is the coolest free software I've ever seen. I love the Google Earth program most of all. It's amazing! Everybody is using it and loves it!

I also love the speed of Mozilla Firefox for browsing. The best deal of all though is the free Norton’s Anti-virus software. It saves my computer network from viruses all the time.

Please click on the Google Pack button. You’ll be very glad you did.
